Landed at 10:40AM at Heathrow, having left JFK at 11PM the night before. I’m usually pretty good at sleeping on the plane, and it was a red-eye, so that should’ve helped? However, I did not sleep well at all. I don’t know why, I just didn’t. Cool.
So, I go to pick up the rental car at Enterprise’s Heathrow lot. Except, nope, the car is at the London Park Lane location. Or is it? Maybe the guy is driving it from London to Heathrow? Nope, wait, sorry, we’ll get you a taxi to London. Maybe. One sec.
90 minutes later I’m in the rental car headed to the hotel. The Enterprise guys were all very nice and it was actually super easy once we figured out where the car was.
I check into the hotel and resist the urge to finally sleep. I need to get on UK time ASAP, and a nap would ruin that, right? Yes. Ugh. Fine.
I’m staying in Vauxhall for the night, so I wander around to see the neighborhood and end up in a pub/restaurant on a corner. It’s super cute. Maybe the awesomeness of my discovery combined with the exhaustion clouded my judgment because I decided, you know what would go well with this steak ciabatta? A glass of chianti. I mean, it’s steak and caramelized onions, I can’t not get red wine!
Except, nope, now I’m getting sleepy from the wine and the hotel is not just around the corner, I’ve got to find my way back.
I really should stay awake until at least 8PM to get onto some semblance of UK time…
Uh-huh.
