Today is mainly a day to get from Point A to Point B. There’s nothing specifically interesting about The Lake District (the only thing that looked interesting between aforementioned Points) but if I can get off the main highway onto something more interesting, sign me up!

And so I departed Manchester and headed to Scotland, specifically Glasgow. I’m super excited about the Scotland portion of this trip, I loved the few bits I got to explore last year, and so now we’re entering the part I’m most looking forward to. But first, getting there.

A River Runs Through Next To It

Winding along a single lane road entering the hills of Lake District National Park, there’s a really cool river rambling down through the valley going in the opposite direction. It’s mainly dark mossy rocks clumped together along the edges of the water that is rushing around and over them. I got out to take a video and photos and WOW the wind was whipping its way down this valley.

The High Road

Eventually that road reached the top of the mountains/hills (let’s be real, these are hills), and that’s when the name of the road changed to Cam High Road. And… yeah, that is an appropriately named road. You’re at the crest of the hills overlooking the valley way below you and the road traces that valley/hill crest all the way down.

Hey There Lambchop

At one point there were two hikers walking along the side of the road and as I was headed towards them, a little lamb snuck under the fence enclosing its field and started to meander towards the road. It must’ve been kismet that the hikers saw me coming and happened to be a few feet away from the lamb and managed to cajole it towards the fence and away from the road. It was a cute little lamb and I’d have felt bad if it had darted out into the road and something had happened.

Sign Envy

Okay, listen, England, did you install this after you saw the dinky sign Scotland put up, or did you put this up and Scotland didn’t care and just slapped together its own sign? These two are literally across the road from each other facing in opposite directions welcoming travelers on their way into the respective countries. Guys. What.
